My Story
When I began my journey 40ish years ago with high school arts, creativity was at a different place. So I have dipped in and dabbled all over with painting, performance art, woodworking, fabric craft, photography and glass to name a few. Self taught and institution educated in the arts, it is now I see myself as an artist.
My physicality and finer motor skills have changed gradually after my diagnosis of a chronic disease in 2001 yet I have shown my work and physically collaborated with others in my pursuit of creativity.
Spending a lot of time recently reading about the 1800’s. The romance of the unusual, appeals to me, the magic of little treasures we all have that tell the story of who we are, what we covet and that we care.
So I thought to myself I’m not going to think big any more as it was stifling my creativity I’m not going to become macro because it’s popular. I am a natural storyteller so I’m going to tell a lot of little stories along with my art simple, banal yet hopefully interesting.
I’m going to think small, thinking what I can do and make it work for me. It’ is not about doing perfect detailed rendering because it’s that’s kind of beyond me now it’s more about having the experience learning something, saying that I enjoy what I do and hopefully being happy that I have a finished product that I believe has merit.
Now I am learning how an electronic forum such as this can inform my work and continue my exploring collaborative ideas.
