For the last few days I have been procrastinating but today I just started somewhere. In keeping with my idea of rooms stuffed with curios of my storytelling each of my 3 projects is going to be baggage like the emotional kind. The things you carry with you, vessels that you take with you on a journey - but also as the small room/ world dedicated to my curiosities.
To make a start I bought a small make up bag luggage piece from the op shop and I decided I was going to pimp it somewhat antiqued or should I say aged up the outside a little bit but make it a nice neat and presentable. I think it is bad retro but I was reminded today that 1970's is good retro now. I have to stop my self. It is a vessel what is has no bearing on what the inside becomes. Clean it up and move in the interior - the little room of curios. I want small details to allude to what is inside - little things you might try to pick off.
So I am just deepening the colour. I bought today shoe polish and I have buffed the vinyl and fabric with the dark Reddy brown Kiwi shoe polish they call dark brown but comes out a claret red. burgundy vinyl with a dark brown it hasn’t really taken a lot of colour in but it’s taken off that rash kind of pink in this that it was before so the next thing I’m going to be doing is putting a layer of oil paint over the fabric section which then I’m going to make it look Louis Vuitton-ish but with my initials probably in gold or brass haha and I’m thinking about either studding it. Stop me.
I’m not sure yet but that’s the next step when I get into the inside that’s where the business begins,. Tomorrow I have off and then I become an explorer.
